Graham started woodturning in 2000 after his wife bought him a lathe. He began attending the weekly beginners nights at Snainton Woodworking Supplies where he learned the basics of turning. Graham, along with his wife Sue joined two woodturning clubs and enjoyed learning what could be achieved on the lathe. The monthly competition, at one of the clubs, was instrumental in his development and he soon began trying out new turning techniques and projects. He had great success in these competitions and went on to enter national competitions where he won a woodturning holiday in the South of France among other prizes. Graham soon became one of the tutors at the beginners night at Snainton Woodworking Supplies and began teaching one to one woodturning courses

Graham was accepted on the Register of Professional Turners in 2019
